Blanket and Sleeping Bag Donation Drive
Tucson won't be getting FEMA blankets this year, so it is even more important that the community drop off any blankets they can. The desert gets very cold at night, with the coldest period this time of year occuring between 6-8 am.
TPCH is asking the community to donate 5,000 blankets and sleeping bags by Dec. 23. According to TPCH, since the donated blankets will be washable, "people who need the blankets will not use as many to stay warm during the winter". Donated blankets and sleeping bags can be dropped off at the following locations: The following Tucson City Council Offices, 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

From their Facebook page: Trader Joe's has 18 turkeys reserved to be smoked by Jason with BBQ Rush Food Truck; a donation from Walmart helped buy fleece blankets for Santa to distribute to guests; and the Boy Scouts of Troop 219 are set to stuff gift bags with socks, gloves, lotion, etc, and sort bags and bags of donated warm clothing (thank you to everyone who donated)! Let me know if you would like to contribute to our event in any way! We are still taking warm clothing donations, monetary donations, or volunteers on Christmas day. Happy Holidays!
